This guide explains why there might be an error during the download, installation, or use of the mobile app SwissTransfer (app for iOS/Android smartphone or tablet).

Device considered insecure?

When using the mobile app SwissTransfer, you might see the message "Your device has been detected as insecure". This message means that the app cannot guarantee that your device is reliable or meets the security requirements.

Indeed, SwissTransfer does not require account creation to function. It relies on integrity mechanisms to ensure that the app is used on a genuine, unmodified device in a secure environment. This system is essential to prevent abuse, fraud, or malicious automation.

On Android, these checks are performed through the "Play Integrity" API provided by Google. If this API returns a result indicating that the device or environment is not reliable, or if it is not available, the device is automatically considered insecure.

Why?

This can happen if the phone is rooted, modified (custom ROM, tools like Magisk), if Google Play services are not installed, are outdated, or if the Play Store is missing or outdated. A device without an active Google account can also cause issues. Network errors or the inability to contact Google's servers can also prevent the verification from occurring.

On iOS, equivalent mechanisms detect jailbroken or modified environments, as well as integrity issues related to the Apple system. Again, if the device does not meet the authenticity criteria, the app may not function fully.

What to do?

This does not prevent you from using SwissTransfer: all features related to receiving and opening transfers remain accessible. Only the creation of a new transfer is blocked if the device does not pass the integrity check.

If you encounter this issue:

  • Check that your phone has not been modified, that all system components are up to date, that you are connected to the Internet, and that your device has the required official services (Google Play Services for Android, up-to-date Apple system for iOS).

If necessary, you can always use SwissTransfer from a mobile browser or a computer via the website https://www.swisstransfer.com.

This guide explains how to attach files and/or images to emails sent from the Infomaniak Web Mail app (online service ksuite.infomaniak.com/mail), the complete online solution for reading and managing your emails.

Introduction

  • Please refer to this other guide regarding email/attachment sending limitations.

Attaching files from your computer to your message

To add an attachment from your computer:

  1. Click here to access the Infomaniak Web Mail app (online service ksuite.infomaniak.com/mail).
  2. Click on New message.
  3. Click on the paperclip icon Attach a file:
  4. Browse locations to select the files to attach to the message:
    • With the Infomaniak Mail web app (online service ksuite.infomaniak.com/mail), the maximum size for attachments is 25 MB.
      • If the attachment exceeds this limit, up to a maximum of 3 GB, a SwissTransfer link is generated and integrated into your message: the data is stored in Switzerland on Infomaniak's Cloud, and your recipients can use this link to easily download the attachments for a predefined period.
      • For files larger than 3 GB (up to 50 GB), it is recommended to always use SwissTransfer for your uploads.

Attach kDrive files to your message

To add an existing attachment from kDrive:

  1. Click here to access the Infomaniak Mail web app (online service ksuite.infomaniak.com/mail).
  2. Click on New message.
  3. Click on the kDrive folder icon to browse locations; select the kDrive files to attach to the message:
  4. Once the data has been found and added (if necessary, change the selected kDrive using the drop-down menu), select the Attachment option on the right (to attach the kDrive files to the message instead of sending a simple link to the files), then click the Insert button:
  5. The selected files are added to the message:

Include an image in the body of your message

To add an image to the message (in the middle of your message text, for example), there are 2 options:

  1. Drag and drop the image into the input interface (images larger than 10 MB will not be displayed but will be added as an attachment).
  2. … or click on the icon representing a landscape:
  3. then:
    1. Click the button to upload an image (which allows you to select it from your desired location and then insert it into the message body)…
    2. … or enter the URL of the image you want to include dynamically; the image must be located somewhere on the Internet (you can use Web FTP to upload your image to your hosting space if you have one) and it must still be there when your recipient views the message.
  4. Click the button to add the image.

This guide details the measures implemented by Infomaniak to secure all your SwissTransfer data, whether it is personal (medical data, identification or login information) or even sensitive (financial information, trade secrets, intellectual property information, research and development, etc.).

Data Security and Privacy

The SwissTransfer infrastructure is based on cutting-edge technology, incorporating multiple levels of protection for your files:

  1. During transfer: your files travel through an ultra-secure tunnel (AES-GCM encryption) that prevents any interception or modification during transmission.
  2. Once stored: your data is "fortified" by double locking (LUKS and AES 256 bits). This security standard, more robust than the previous one, guarantees that even in the event of physical access to the server, your files remain completely unreadable.

Files are encrypted as soon as they arrive on Infomaniak's storage servers, and are processed exclusively in Infomaniak's data centers in Switzerland. These TIER III+ data centers ensure maximum availability: your files are always accessible and protected by multiple backup systems.

Files are automatically deleted after 15 days. An extension of up to 30 days is possible: it is offered by email to the sender on the 12th day, and remains available for 3 days.

Infomaniak continuously tests and audits the SwissTransfer infrastructure to identify and correct any vulnerabilities, thus ensuring constant protection against the latest cyberattacks.

Thank you for using Infomaniak to securely transmit your large documents to your contacts, thus guaranteeing a professional and efficient solution for your data exchanges.

Introduction

  • SwissTransfer is a secure online file transfer platform that allows you to send large files in a simple and efficient way.
  • Unlike many other file transfer services, SwissTransfer accepts files up to 50 GB, which is particularly useful for large files that cannot be sent as email attachments or by other traditional means.
  • Furthermore, data security is guaranteed because Infomaniak places particular emphasis on confidentiality, and ethics are at the heart of its concerns.

Transfer data with SwissTransfer

To send files via SwissTransfer:

You can also use the SwissTransfer mobile app (application for iOS/Android smartphones or tablets); refer to this other guide if you have any problems installing the app. Thanks to its integration on iOS/Android, it offers quick file sharing options for your files, photos, PDFs, etc. from the file explorer:

Downloading Data

Files transferred via SwissTransfer can be downloaded by the user…

  • … either one by one…
  • … or using the "Download All" button, which will create a .zip archive to download:
    • If the archive exceeds 10 GB, the data must be downloaded one by one.
    • Therefore, if you need to send several large files, it is best to group them together beforehand in a zip/rar/etc. archive (see below).

Files are automatically deleted after 15 days. An extension to 30 days is possible: it is offered by email to the sender on the 12th day and remains available for 3 days.

Confirming the User's Email Address

To enhance security, your email address must be validated:

  • This verification is only done once per device (it is saved in your browser).
  • If your email address has already been validated, nothing changes for you. Otherwise, a confirmation code will be sent to you by email: simply enter it to complete your transfer.

Compress Files Before Sending…

You can transfer multiple files with SwissTransfer by selecting them on your device, even if the data to be sent includes folders.

  • To facilitate sending, it is not mandatory, but it is easy to compress your files into a format such as ZIP.
  • These steps will create a new compressed .zip folder that can be sent more quickly with SwissTransfer because the total size will generally be reduced.

… on macOS and Linux

  1. From your computer, select the folder(s) to send.
  2. Right-click on the folder(s) to be archived.
  3. Choose the "Compress" option:
