Create a newsletter signup form
This guide explains how to create a registration form for the Infomaniak Newsletter, how to integrate it into a web page, and how to manage subscriber sign-ups and unsubscribes.
Create a Registration Form
A registration form allows visitors to a website to subscribe to a newsletter and enrich one or more contact lists/groups. To access form management:
- Log in to Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Edge.
- Click on the icon ‍ in the top right corner of the interface (or navigate using the left sidebar menu, for example).
- Select Newsletter (under Events & Marketing).
- If necessary, click on the domain name in the displayed table.
- Click on Forms in the left sidebar menu.
- Click the blue button Create a Form
- Give your form a name.
You are now in the customization area for your form.
A. Customize Content and Generate HTML / JavaScript Code
- The left part previews your form.
- Specify which of your groups should contain the future subscribers from this form - this allows having a form in one location corresponding to filling a specific contact list, and another form elsewhere corresponding to another list, in order to later send a more personalized newsletter.
- The Theme menu allows you to choose the most suitable color palette for your form to blend seamlessly with the surrounding content where your form will be inserted.
- All elements of the form can be customized including the text of the button visitors will click to subscribe, and the confirmation text that appears after this click (integration with javascript code only).
- The checkboxes at the bottom under Options allow you to:
- Display the title above the fields instead of inside them.
- Receive an email (as the newsletter manager) when someone uses the form to subscribe.
- Click the blue button at the bottom of the page to save your changes as you go.
- Click the blue button at the top of the page to display the javascript and HTML code to integrate into your pages (read this guide on this topic) once finished, or continue customizing your form before copying the code.
B. Manage Collected Information from Subscribers (Configure Fields)
- The Fields tab lists any configured fields and allows you to configure new ones (use the ‍ Create button at the top of the tab):
- These fields can be text-based, "date" type, or enforce numeric input only.
- The "Required" column activates the mandatory status of the field, requiring the subscriber to complete the required information, without which registration will not be allowed.
- The information collected by these different fields will be stored on the subscriber's record and can be used as a variable in your newsletter and inserted into the body of the newsletter when composing it.
- Click the blue button at the bottom of the page to save your changes as you go.
C. Further Configure Registrations
The following tabs manage the rest of the subscriber's journey.
Indeed, a visitor's registration via the form operates on the principle of double opt-in: a first message is sent to the registered person's address, who must manually and voluntarily confirm their registration by clicking a unique link in the received email.
Only then will the person be definitively registered in your database as a subscriber, until they eventually unsubscribe.
Therefore, across the remaining 3 tabs, you can:
- Customize the page or text to display during the first phase of registration (which informs the user that an email is being sent to them).
- Customize the email sent to the user who wished to subscribe (content, sender, subject, etc.).
- Customize the page or text to display when the user confirms their registration by clicking the link in the email body.
