Access the server via FTP with an application

This guide explains how to manage a file Web hosting with FTP software/client as Filezilla, Cyberduck, Commander One, Transmitted, etc.

Preamble

• To easily & quickly manage your web hosting files without having to install an application or enter FTP identifiers, use Web FTP from your Manager Infomaniak.
• Web FTP allows in particular the CHOWN and file compression/decompression zip.
• Be aware of this other guide if you are looking for information about the creation and editing of FTP account.

Parameters to be provided for FTP software

Whatever your FTP software/client, the 3 parameters required to configure FTP access are always:

1. host name: FTP server address
2. username: name of FTP account
3. password: the FTP account
   
    
   • The port number is usually left by default.
   • The type and mode of connection is usually left by default.
   • If a limit of number of simultaneous connections is proposed, it is recommended to activate it.

Getting the login information to the hosting

You will find all the information about your Manager Infomaniak:

1. Click here in order to access the management of your product on the Manager Infomaniak (Need help?).
2. Click directly on the nameallocated to the product concerned.
3. Click on FTP (or FTP / SSH) in the left side menu
   

1. Host name FTP

The host name to use in your FTP software/client is specified at the top of the page given in point 3 above and an icon allows you to copy the address into the clipboard.

If the given domain is not functional (do not point to the IP address of the hosting e.g.) then use the IP address as host name, form 123.45.678.123 (be aware of this other guide).

Paying Web Hosting

Use the host name of the form xyzb.ftp.infomaniak.com e.g.

2. FTP username

The username is the name of the account to create on your Manager: xyzb_abcdefg e.g.

3. FTP user password

The password of the FTP user is defined by the creator of the FTP account. If you forget, edit the FTP account by clicking on it and hand over a new pass.
