Import external data to kDrive
This guide explains how to import (only once) data (files, folders, etc.) from an external cloud, such as your previous provider's cloud, to kDrive.
- Dropbox
- Google Drive
- OneDrive
- OwnCloud
- NextCloud
- Any device with a WebDAV service including external kDrive (read this guide - click here)
- Another kDrive accessible to your user account (except "external" type access)
Non-imported Data
- Data shared with you is not imported.
- Only data that actually belongs to you will be imported.
- Google documents such as Gdocs, Sheets, Slide, etc. are not imported (during a Dropbox import for example).
- Except during a Google Drive import, in which case these documents are converted to a standard Microsoft .doc format.
- Dropbox Paper documents
Copy Data from an External Cloud to kDrive
To proceed with the data import:
- Login to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox.
- Click on the icon at the top right of the interface (or navigate using the left sidebar menu, for example).
- Choose kDrive (under Collaborative Tools).
- Click on the name of the relevant object in the displayed table.
- Click on the icon at the top right of the interface.
- Verify the relevant kDrive and click on General in the left sidebar menu.
- Click on Import External Data:
- Click on Start.
- Choose the relevant service.
- Choose the location where the imported files will be stored.
- Enter any required information if prompted and click the blue Start button:
- Enter any required information if prompted and click the blue Continue button.
- Finish the wizard.
- Wait for the data import to complete.
To monitor ongoing imports, return to the page mentioned in step 7 above at any time.
To stop an ongoing import, click on the action menu to the right of the import listed on the page and choose to cancel (in case of intentional interruption, a report is sent via email to the administrator).
It is imperative to check your imported data immediately after the operation.
What about iCloud Drive?
As Apple does not offer an API like its competitors, the solution to retrieve documents from iCloud Drive is to install the kDrive macOS app to synchronize the iCloud folder, which should be located in your library.
