Add / remove a contacts & calendars synchronization profile (iOS)
This guide explains how to synchronize contacts and calendars from an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, etc.) with contacts and calendars hosted by Infomaniak. The applications on your iOS device will be automatically configured using compatible Apple .mobileconfig configuration profiles. It is possible to remove a configuration profile once installed.
Which Password to Use?
Infomaniak contacts and calendars are linked to your Infomaniak user account. When you log in to contacts.infomaniak.com or calendar.infomaniak.com, you probably have two-factor authentication (2FA) to complete during login. In this case, an application password is required to establish synchronization between your device and Infomaniak tools. But don't worry, the creation of such an application password is offered to you as part of the configuration wizard.
Installing a Configuration Profile
You can download the profile from the device in question:
- Log in (with your usual Infomaniak user account credentials) to https://config.infomaniak.com from your iOS device.
- Choose to install the profile on this device.
- Choose to sync contacts and calendars.
- Generate an application-specific password for synchronization (to maintain the usual 2FA login for your user account).
- Copy the generated application password (you will be asked for it during the installation of the Apple profile).
- Download the Apple profile.
- Allow the download on the device.
- Open the iOS device settings.
- Tap on the recently downloaded profile.
- Tap on Install
- Unlock your iOS device.
- Tap on Install
- Enter (or paste) the application password twice (contacts + calendars).
- Tap on Finish
If your iOS Contacts and Calendar apps were already open, you will need to relaunch them to see the information added by synchronization.
Contact Specifics
If you add new contacts from the iPhone after synchronization, they will be stored locally in the iPhone's address book ("On My iPhone") instead of being added to the synchronized address book. You need to change this default setting in your app's settings.
Unfortunately, you cannot retrieve information about contact groups. iOS does not use folders or groups. Apple tags/marks each contact with one or more categories, but it is not a membership in a group.
Calendar Specifics
By default, only your personal calendar is displayed in the Calendar app. To display calendars shared by another user:
- Open the Calendar app.
- Tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen.
- Check the shared calendars you want to display.
Also, read Apple's documentation on this topic.

*Why is it necessary to choose the guide version that exactly matches your macOS / iOS system version? Apple introduces sometimes significant changes with each new version of its system, e.g., a path on iOS 15:
