Changing the whois details for a domain name
The whois details are the details linked to a domain name. They provide information about the owner of the name, the administrator, the technical contact and billing.
They cannot be changed without the approval of the current owner, who automatically receives an email after each change, requesting them to approve the change.
They are separate from the customer account contact information used for access to domain name management and will always be used in the event of a dispute on the ownership of the domain.
Given that a contact file can be linked to several domains, a change will therefore affect all the domains having the same whois contact.
Changing the whois information:
- Open the Manager (manager.infomaniak.com)
- Go to Domain name
- Click on the domain name concerned
- On the left side panel, click on Whois Information
- Click on Edit to edit the details
Changing the "Company" or "Last name, First name" + "Email" fields is not possible when editing a Whois contact. To change the owner, you must click on the Change owner button. This may involve charges.
