Solve an error after changing a password
This guide explains why a site can be "broken" or no longer display anything, following the change of a password.
Broken link with database
When your site and more particularly a script (CMS, WordPress, Prestashop or any other application using MySQL databases) can no longer connect to the MySQL MariaDB database or other, an error message may appear display, type:
- Error connecting to database
- Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL
- Link to database cannot be established
What is your last action?
In case an error occurs on your site you should always review the recent history. In this case, was there:
- an action on your part at the level of the configuration file of the script in question? Has it been touched, modified, moved?
Sometimes the unintentional insertion of a space before or after a word can break the link between the web server and the database server. Roll back your file changes.
If needed, put back an old version of the files you recently modified: - an action on the database password in the Infomaniak Manager?
If you change your database password via the Infomaniak administration console, then your script, which fetches its information from the databases, will no longer display anything.
Changing something in the admin console means having to change it everywhere else. This change that you have made in the Manager, you must also report / reflect it in the configuration file of the script by connecting to FTP and going to modify the appropriate file, in principle "wp-config.php", "configuration. php" or similar. - a server move announced by our services?
