Migrating shared Web hosting to a Cloud Server
This guide explains how to migrate a Shared Web Hosting to a Managed Cloud Server while retaining all your data.
If you want to migrate a web hosting from one Managed Cloud Server to another, please follow this guide.
If you want to migrate a web hosting from a Managed Cloud Server to a Shared Web Hosting, please follow this guide (Please note that this is a manual operation you will need to perform).
Important Details
- The names of databases and database users will be retained.
- FTP accounts will be retained with the same names, but the host server will change to an address like "xxxx.ftp.infomaniak.com" (Learn more).
- The IP addresses of the sites will change, except for dedicated IPs.
- There will be a service interruption during the migration process.
1. Order a Managed Cloud Server
If you already have a Cloud Server, you can proceed directly to step 2 of this guide.
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox.
- Choose Cloud Server (under the Web & Domain category).
- Select a Managed Cloud Server and follow the wizard to complete the order.
2. Migrate Hosting to the Cloud Server
Once the Cloud Server is up and running:
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox.
- Click on the icon in the upper right corner of the interface (or navigate through the left sidebar menu, for example).
- Choose Hosting (under the Web & Domain category).
- Click directly on the name of the relevant object in the displayed table.
- Click on the Manage button.
- Click on the MODIFY THE OFFER button.
- Select the free transfer plan.
- Select the Cloud Server to which you want to migrate your hosting.
- Click Next at the bottom and follow the procedure to the end.
- Wait for the hosting migration to complete.
