Enable two-step verification
Two-step verification protects your account and your personal details using the password of your choice plus a second method of verifying your identity, such as a code received via your smartphone. If someone with malicious intent managed to decrypt or steal your password, they would still need to have a authentication code, which only the legitimate user can receive on their smartphone.
Configuration requirements
To use two-step verification:
- You must have a compatible smartphone or mobile device:
iOS (iPhone, iPad, etc.), Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry 10 - You don’t have to be connected to the internet to receive an authentication code on your smartphone
To enable two-step verification
Warning: once two-step verification is enabled, our technical support team will not be able to disable it for you. Make a careful note of the security code that you choose after Step 5 of the following procedure. It will allow you to disable two-step verification if there is a problem.
- Log in to your Infomaniak space (manager.infomaniak.com or mail.infomaniak.com)
- At the top right, click on the tab with your initials then select Manage my profile
- Via the Security and recovery parameters box, click on Manage security
- In the two-step verification rectangle, select Modify
- Select the authentication method (we recommend Infomaniak Auth)
- Follow the information displayed on the screen to complete the procedure (note the emergency codes carefully)
Actions to be performed in order to synchronize contacts and diaries
If you synchronize the contacts and diaries of your Infomaniak account with a mobile peripheral or a mailbox software, perform the following actions to generate a new password specific to this application:
- Log in to your Infomaniak space (manager.infomaniak.com or mail.infomaniak.com)
- At the top right, click on the tab with your initials then select Manage my profile
- Via the Application password(s) box, click on Manage
- On the new page, click on Generate an application password
- Indicate a name for the application password in the dialogue box, then click on Generate an application password
- Copy this application password generated and keep it in a safe but accessible location as it will no longer be accessible once the window is closed.
Note: you can generate several specific passwords (for example one for contacts and one for calendars) or to use the same one to synchronize both services.
