Moving web hosting from one Cloud Server to another
This guide explains how to move a hosting (and all the sites it contains) from one Cloud Server to another Cloud Server (which must therefore be in the same customer account).
You can also follow these instructions if you already have a Cloud Server and want to replace it with a latest generation Cloud Server .
Prerequisites
If necessary, order a Cloud Server:- open the Manager ( manager.infomaniak.com )
- go to Cloud Server
- click on the order button
- choose Managed Cloud Server when offered
Hosting migration to new server
Important:
- The sites of this hosting will be unavailable during the data migration ; this process can take several minutes depending on the number of files to be transferred to the new cloud server
- HTTP /2 is active on new servers; some directives possibly present in the .htaccess file of your server may require adaptation
- Crons over SSH will not be migrated
- A proxy is set up for 7 days to redirect traffic from the old Server to the new one
Once the new Cloud Server is up and running:
- open the Manager ( manager.infomaniak.com )
- go to Web Hosting
- if necessary click on the hosting / domain name concerned
- click on the Manage button
- in the menu that appears, click on Move to another server
- choose the desired destination server
- click on Validate
Adapt DNS zone and finish
If your domain names are not managed by Infomaniak or in the same customer account as the Cloud Server , it will be necessary to adapt the A record of the domains concerned . As the modification of a DNS zone of a domain can take up to 48 hours, we advise you not to terminate the old Cloud Server before this time.
Terminate the old Cloud Server if necessary.
