Microsoft Outlook 2016 (Windows): configuring messaging (IMAP)
This guide explains how to configure an email address hosted by Infomaniak with Microsoft Outlook 2016 email software.
To configure an email account:
Open Microsoft Outlook 2016
At the bottom of the window that opens, under Advanced Options, tick the Configure my account manually box
Choose the type of IMAP account
Enter the incoming email server (mail.infomaniak.com), the outgoing email server (mail.infomaniak.com)
For the incoming server (IMAP), choose the type of SSL connection and check that the incoming port is configured on 993.
For the outgoing server, choose the type of STARTTLS connection and enter port 587.
Do not tick the "Require authentication" box.
When requested, enter the user name (your full email address) and your email address password.
If the instructions have been followed correctly, the settings test should go ahead without a problem.
In case of a problem
Outlook may request the password several times, which is "normal". To be sure to enter your password several times correctly, please test it beforehand.
If a problem persists with an error indicating that it is impossible to finish the configuration, try the Win + R shortcut and type control panel to open the configuration panel. Once there, type Mail with the search at the top right. You should see Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2016) (32-bit), which will enable you to access another interface to add an account. Then follow the settings given at the bottom of our FAQ https://www.infomaniak.com/en/support/faq/1075/configuring-an-email-addressconfiguring-email-softwareemail-settings without forgetting to go to Additional settings to change the SMTP port.
