Enable an auto-reply (out-of-office/Holidays message on the email address
This guide explains how to activate an auto-reply (automatic e-mail message in case of absence for example) on an e-mail address managed with Infomaniak
You will thus be able to inform your correspondents that you are not able to answer them immediately, because you are absent, on vacation, etc.
How do I activate an auto-reply?
The automatic reply in case of absence can be activated from Mail Infomaniak and from the Manager where all the addresses of a Mail Service are managed.
You can activate or deactivate a message already recorded, but there cannot be several active auto-replys on the same email address: activating a message deactivates another if necessary.
Activate the auto-reply from Webmail
- open mail.infomaniak.com
- click on the icon
at the top right
- choose the Mail Addresses tab
- under Actions on my address , click on the
auto-reply icon
- activate the automatic message if applicable or read below
If you don't have access...
- Check that you have valid access to webmail in which the email address is attached
- Do you have permission to manage this setting? If you had been invited to webmailin order to manage your address, it is possible that the Mail Service manager withdrew this right from you during the invitation (find out more (click here )
Activate the auto-reply from the Manager
- open the Manager ( manager.infomaniak.com )
- go to Service Mail
- if necessary click on the domain name concerned
- click on the email address concerned
- click on the Responder and signatures tab
- activate the automatic message if applicable or read below
Write the away message
- click on Add an auto-reply
- define whether the automatic response should be made on a recurring basis on specific days of the week
- if the response is not periodic, define a start date/time and possibly an end date/time
- write an away message
- register
- enable message:
Thanks to the pen, you can also edit an already recorded message.
advanced settings
Click on the pencil to the right of an already registered auto-reply then on Advanced settings at the bottom to:
- define a different sending address (the address must first be verified)
- define addresses that should not receive your automatic message
- reset the 7 day counter (read below)
How often is the automatic reply sent?
Your reply is only sent once to people who message you.
However, if the same sender sends you a new email 7 days after the previous one and if your automatic responder is still activated, an automatic response is sent to them again to remind them that you do not have access to your email.
Be careful so if you do a test on your address it is normal that it only works the first time . During subsequent attempts, the auto-reply no longer sends the message when it detects that the message comes from an address that has already sent a message before.
You can reset the 7 day counter by clicking on Reset in the advanced settings of the auto-reply.
