Transfer a WordPress site (with All-in-One WP Migration)
This guide explains how make a web site transfer on which is installed WordPress, using one of its extensions, All-in-One WP Migration.
Prerequisites
- Order Web Hosting / Cloud Server If you don't have one yet.
- Create a site on your new accommodation by choosing to install WordPress Infomaniak (choice proposed when adding a site - you can also install a WordPress site after creation of a blank site).
Full WordPress site backup
To save all the files and database of an existing WordPress site:
- Install then activate extension All-in-One WP Migration from the WordPress administration interface of the current site.
- See you on the extension dashboard Freshly installed.
- Click on Export.
Download the exported archive:
Restoration of the site
As specified in the prerequisites above, install a new WordPress on your Infomaniak web hosting then:
- Install and activate extension All-in-One WP Migration from the administration interface of the new WordPress (it is sometimes necessary to use the preview URL to connect to the new site, e.g. if the domain is being transferred).
- See you on the extension dashboard Freshly installed.
- Click for import a file, in this case the archive exported from your previous WordPress site.
- If the archive is voluminous it is necessary increase, in the settings of the website, the value of the maximum size allowed for imports on the server.
- Once the site is re-imported, reconfigure the main address of the Infomaniak-side site.
- When conditions allow (e.g. transfer of the completed domain name), install an SSL certificate and recheck point 4 above to select the address
