Solve distorted or generated video in unwanted format
To find out why the newly downloaded video is distorted and/or not generated in the desired format, it is necessary to analyze the files that need to be uploaded, as well as to perform some tests.
In some cases you may realize that a video that is visually in 16/9 format (1024x576 for example) is actually only a 4/3 video (720x576). This comes from the fact that the file has a L/H ratio in pixels of anamorphic type, so each pixel is not square but rectangular. Generally, this can be realized by opening the file with Quicktime and then with VLC, as these softwares do not interpret it in the same way.
The problem is that when the video is converted via the VOD tool, it is converted to square pixels, in the end with a 4/3 ratio size actually, even if the encoding is set to 16/9.
Set an encoding rule with a format that "forces resolution" (drop-down menu under "format") as well as dimensions 16/9 - 640x360.
Basic conversions use Letterbox mode, so the videos you send to 4/3 stay in 4/3 even if the requested dimensions are 16/9. If you adjust this parameter in "Force Resolution" mode and then specify dimensions in 16/9, you will eventually get a file of the desired dimensions.
