Update the email password on Thunderbird
This guide explains how to update the password of an email address configured on Thunderbird after changing it from an Infomaniak Mail Service.
There may be an upstream master password; refer to Mozilla's official help on this subject.
⚠️ Infomaniak mail is compatible with any application supporting IMAP/SMTP. For additional help contact the support of the software used or a partner — also discover the role of the hoster.
Access the password menu
To do this:
- Open the Thunderbird email client.
- Click on the menu icon at the top right and click on Preferences:
- Click on Preferences again.
- Select the Security tab from the left sidebar.
- Select the Password tab, and click on Saved Passwords...
- If the passwords are not visible in the window that appears, click on Show Passwords at the bottom right.
- Double-click on the password associated with the email address, and enter the new password in the two fields provided (IMAP and SMTP)
