.NGO / .ONG domains
This guide pertains to registering .NGO or .ONG domain names, which are subject to two specific points related to these extensions.
1. Registration Validation
To register a .ong or .ngo domain, you must be a non-governmental organization (NGO), which means that registering a .ngo or .ong domain requires verification that occurs after the domain is registered.
As part of this process, you will receive an email (sent to the email address provided in the whois) containing a link to perform this verification. It's important to complete this process within 360 days of registration; otherwise, your domain name will be denied and removed by the registry.
Please note that the domain will only become active once this registration process is completed.
To be eligible for acquiring a .ngo or .ong domain, your organization must meet the criteria described on this page (https://www.ongood.ngo/info/fr/faq?topic=ongood-your-organisation&faq=193).
2. Special Case of the "Mirror Domain"
The .ngo and .ong extensions differ from other extensions in that registering one of them automatically registers the other (at no additional cost).
For example, if you register the domain "myorganization.ong," you also register "myorganization.ngo," and vice versa.
The "mirror domain" is registered and validated simultaneously with the "primary domain" but will not appear in your customer account (if you try to order it, it will appear as "transferable").
