Manage firewall port opening
This guide explains how to allow certain incoming and/or outgoing ports in the firewall of a Web Hosting or a Managed Cloud Server.
Read this guide (click here) regarding the VPS Cloud / VPS Lite firewall to allow ping, among other things.
Preamble
- on a shared Web hosting, it is only possible to open ports outgoing
- on a Managed Cloud Server, it is possible to open ports incoming and outgoing
- opening ports ensures the proper functioning of certain applications but can reduce the security of your hosting
Access the management tool
To manage port opening from the Manager:
- log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox
- click on the icon at the top right of the interface (or navigate through the left sidebar menu, for example)
- choose Hosting (universe Web & Domain)
- click on the name of the relevant object in the displayed table
- click on Advanced Tools in the left sidebar menu
- click on Port Opening in the left sidebar menu
Add a rule
Once you have accessed the port opening tool:
- click on the Open a Port button
- follow the instructions displayed on the screen
It is only possible to enter one IP or host per line, and only one port per rule.
By specifying an IP or host, the connection will be allowed only in these cases:
Incoming rule: if the connection comes from this IP or the specified host
Outgoing rule: if the connection is made to this IP or host
Similarly for the "Type" of connection, if the protocol used for the connection is not the one indicated in the rule, the connection is not allowed.
Open outgoing port 25 globally
You can open outgoing port 25 from the manager if a destination host is specified.
With a Managed Cloud Server, to open this port to the entire world, contact Infomaniak support.
Ports open by default
Once you have accessed the port opening tool, you will find the list of ports open by default at the bottom of the page:
To close some of the listed ports, with a Managed Cloud Server, please justify your request by contacting our support.

Regarding ports for databases, read our guides:
Check the activity of a port (Managed Cloud Server)
On a Managed Cloud Server, to check if an application is listening on a particular port (1234 in the example below) and to know the name of the application in question, run in SSH:
netstat -anpe | grep "1234" | grep "LISTEN"
