Differences between Starter, Web, Classic hosting, and Cloud Server.
This guide explains the differences between our hosting packages and it will help you to choose the hosting solution which best suits your needs.
Starter: free web hosting
The Starter hosting is offered free with every domain name registered with Infomaniak. It offers 10 MB of disk space and allows you to create a basic website (with html pages only - no PHP, no databases) even with no specialist knowledge thanks to the Homepage tool.
- Register or transfer a domain name with Infomaniak

Web and Web + Mail hosting: the flagship service to create your sites
Web and Classic hostings are shared hostings (the websites will be hosted on servers whose resources are shared with other clients). To guarantee the reliability of our shared services, our servers on average use only 40% of the CPU power and are equipped with latest-generation professional SSD disks.
Web hosting offers a minimum of 100 GB of SSD disk space and allows several websites to be managed with several domain names. This hosting package offers all the technologies usually used to create professional websites: PHP, MySQL, SSH and FTP access, SSL certificates, easy installation of WordPress and up-to-date CMS, etc.
Web + Mail hosting is a web hosting package with at least 5 professional email addresses. It is Infomaniak's flagship hosting solution. It is aimed at SMEs and demanding individuals who want to manage one or more websites while benefiting from professional email addresses.
Cloud Server: professional web hosting
With a Cloud Server, the resources allocated to you are not shared with other clients and you can customise the hardware and software configuration of your server to suit your needs. A Cloud Server also allows you to use components which are not available on shared hostings (node.js, mongoDB, Sol, FFMPEG, etc.).
A managed Cloud Server allows your server to be managed easily from the same admin console as our Web and Web + Mail hostings. You manage your sites there in the same way.
An Unmanaged Cloud Server allows your server to be managed 100% autonomously with the Windows version or Linux distribution of your choice (Debian, Ubuntu, openSUSE, etc.). Solid technical skills are required to use an unmanaged Cloud Server.
Jelastic Cloud: made-to-measure hosting with the technologies of your choice
A Jelastic Cloud enables you to create made-to-measure development environments with the technologies of your choice (PHP, Node.js, Java, Docker, Ruby, etc.). It is the most flexible type of cloud offer:
- horizontal and vertical resource resizing
- payment according to the real consumption of resources
- easy customisation of your infrastructure (redundancy, IP, SSL, load sharing, etc.)
