Domain name: saving a .NGO and/or .ONG
The registration of a domain name with an .NGO or .ONG extension is subject to two specific points.
1. Validation of the registration
Only non-governmental organizations can order an .ngo or .ong. This implies that the registration of an .ngo or .ong requires verification that takes place after the registration of the domain.
For this purpose, you will receive (at the email address indicated in the whois) an email containing a link to carry out this verification. It is important to complete this process within 360 days after registration, failing which your domain name will be refused and deleted by the registry.
Please note that the domain will only become active once this registration process is complete.
To be eligible for an .ngo or .ong domain, your organization must respect the points described on this page: (https://www.ongood.ngo/info/faq?topic=ongood-your-organisation&faq=193).
2. Special case of "mirror domains"
.ngo and .ong extensions are different from other extensions in that the acquisition of one automatically registers the other (at no extra cost).
For example, if you register "myorganization.ong", you will also register "myorganization.ngo", and vice versa.
The "mirror" domain is registered and validated at the same time as the "primary" domain but will not appear in your client account (if you try to order it, it will appear as "transferable").
To use the "mirror" of the domain you have registered, please contact our support (click here).
