Edit a website's folder

Update 08/06/2026

This guide explains how to change the target folder where your website is stored on an Infomaniak Web Hosting.

Introduction

  • On an Infomaniak web hosting plan, it is possible to install multiple websites with their own domain name (multisite management).
  • Each of these sites is stored in a folder on your hosting plan, which is the target directory for the site. It is possible to freely change the target directory of a site. Example:
    • The site domain.xyz has, for example, the /web folder as its target directory…
    • You publish a site in a new subfolder of /web, for example, called /web/v2
    • By changing the target directory /web of the site domain.xyz to /web/v2, the site domain.xyz will display the content of the /web/v2 folder without, of course, including this path in the web browser's address bar and without leaving access to any files that may still be located in /web.
  • It is recommended not to create "v2" in a subfolder of "web" but next to it, by creating the folder at the root of your hosting.
  • These folders actually exist on the server, but you are not required to connect via FTP to manage them.
