Troubleshooting Gmail Redirection Issues
This guide explains how email behaves when redirection is enabled for an email address managed with Infomaniak, and the destination is a Gmail address.
Message not displayed in Gmail
If you send an email…
- … from
abc@gmail.com… - … to
xyz@domain.xyz(a domain you have with Infomaniak)…
… and that this email address xyz@domain.xyz with Infomaniak has automatic forwarding enabled…
- … to
abc@gmail.com…
… then abc@gmail.com will never display your email as a new message in the inbox. Absolutely nothing will happen on Gmail.
Why?
The problem isn't that the redirection doesn't work: it's more of a peculiarity of Gmail: an email from Gmail to an email address at Infomaniak that is redirected to the same Gmail address as the sender's, will cause problems on the Gmail side, in the way it handles the messaging.
Your message will never be delivered (because, in reality, it already thinks the message is in the recipient's sent items folder). In this case, you need to remove the email forwarding rule.
