Manage Infomaniak SMS (obsolete)
This guide concerns the management of SMS on the Infomaniak Mail interface.
These tools remain accessible in your interface only if they have been used in the past, their support and deployment having been discontinued by Infomaniak.
Manage Infomaniak SMS
The SMS section is accessible via https://mail.infomaniak.com/sms and allows you to send text messages to any phone number compatible with SMS reception.
You must have an SMS pack. The prices of these packs and the number of SMS you can send with them are displayed on the page https://mail.infomaniak.com/sms#sms_reload.
Send an SMS
Go to the page https://mail.infomaniak.com/sms#compose to compose your SMS.
When writing your message, you have a choice between 2 sending methods:
- SMS without sender: the number displayed on the device that receives the SMS is replaced by "Info" in most cases.
- Alphanumeric identifier: you can choose to display on the device that will receive your message a sender name composed of 11 characters maximum among:
- uppercase letters
A-Z - lowercase letters
a-z - numbers
0-9 - spaces
- uppercase letters
It is possible that the country and/or the recipient's provider do not accept method 2; in this case, a phone number (specific to Infomaniak) will be displayed as the sender.
In all cases, any response that might be given to your SMS will not be received.
Send an SMS to multiple Mail contacts
It is quite possible to send SMS to a group of contacts (including a shared address book) from the SMS interface. The name of the group will be suggested to you when you write the first letters of its name as the recipient.
Only contacts with a phone number in the Mobile (Portable) field of their record are taken into account.
SMS actually sent?
In the history of your SMS, you can see the status of the message given by the recipient's SMS server once the message has been actually sent or not sent:
- Pending: the final operator cannot transmit it to the recipient, for example when the mobile has not been turned on
- Sent: the message has been received on the mobile
- Not sent: the number to which the SMS was sent is invalid (for the server: wrong number, or wrong operator) or the waiting time for sending is exceeded (24h which is the maximum allowed by the server)
Transfer SMS credits from one account to another
This is useful, for example, when you detach the last email address present in Mail Infomaniak and you want to use the SMS credit with another account. Infomaniak does not refund unused credits.
To do this:
- Open the following page: https://mail.infomaniak.com/sms#sms_transfert.
- Enter the email address of the Infomaniak account to be credited.
- Choose the number of credits to transfer.
- Click on Validate to perform the transfer.
Receive an SMS upon receipt of a specific email
Prerequisites
- Have a Mail account.
- Reattach the email address to be monitored in it.
- Indicate a mobile phone number in your account details (or send the alert to a new number to be defined, but it is not possible to send an SMS to multiple phone numbers for the same alert; multiple alarms can be recorded and you can specify a different number each time).
- Have SMS credits (the cost of an alert is similar to sending an SMS manually on your phone; without sufficient credit, the SMS alarm will no longer work).
To receive an SMS alerting you to the arrival of an email on Mail Infomaniak according to very specific reception criteria:
- Click here to access the Infomaniak Manager.
- Click on the icon at the top right of the interface (or navigate using the left sidebar, for example).
- Choose
SMS.
- Select Email alarm from the left sidebar menu.
- Click on Add an alarm.
- Indicate a name for the alarm, select the email address to be followed, and select or indicate a phone number.
- Click on Save.
Note:
- It is possible to further customize the SMS alert via different filters (sender, subject, message content).
- To be alerted by SMS for all emails received in the inbox (not recommended), add a "@" in the sender's address.
- The search is implicitly "wildcarded"; the criteria are of the "contains" type, so *words*...
- No alert SMS will be sent if the email to be reported is an Infomaniak mailing list.
