Create a Swift location on Swiss Backup

This guide explains how to create a new device (Cloud backup via OpenStack Swift) on Swiss Backup, the backup solution in a Swiss independent cloud.

 

Prerequisites

  • Order an Infomaniak Swiss Backup space.
  • During the order process, define the available quota for device(s) to be backed up using the Cloud backup type (minimum 1):
  • If necessary, increase the device quota according to your needs.

 

Add a device (for OpenStack Swift connection)

To access Swiss Backup and configure a new backup:

  1. Click here to access the management interface for your product on the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
  2. Click directly on the name assigned to the product in question:
  3. Click on the blue Manage my devices button (in the Cloud storage space section):
  4. Click on the blue Add a device button:
  5. Choose the Swift backup type/protocol.
  6. Click the blue Continue button:
  7. Choose the user who will receive the login information (if necessary, choose a user different from your own and specify the person's contact details in the next step).
  8. Click the blue Continue button:
  9. Give the backup a name.
  10. Define the maximum disk space that this backup space should represent, based on the total volume of the Swiss Backup plan you have subscribed to. If necessary, increase the total size using the blue link.
  11. Click the blue Continue button:
  12. Click on the blue button to display the connection details:
  13. This section includes the number representing the location, which is useful for completing some of the information you will need to provide when configuring your backup application.
  14. This section provides an example of a backup method, made easier by downloading a configuration profile.
  15. This section provides all the connection information.
  16. The location or hostname.
  17. The password (to be generated using the blue link, which will open the wizard in a browser popup, or via the link received by email), as well as other additional information, such as the Tenant, for certain backup applications:

 

What's next?

Once the device has been added to the Swiss Backup interface within the Infomaniak Manager, you can configure the application of your choice to start your Cloud backups using the protocol mentioned in this guide.
