Discover kPaste

Update 08/06/2026

This guide explains how to use kPaste, the free tool offered by Infomaniak for sharing sensitive data securely, encrypted, and temporarily.

Introduction

  • kPaste is a free web application developed by Infomaniak that allows you to share sensitive information (passwords, codes, credentials, etc.) in an ultra-secure and temporary manner.
  • Data is encrypted directly in your browser, even before it leaves your computer, using AES-256-GCM encryption.
  • Infomaniak cannot access the content of your messages: they remain in "zero-knowledge" mode, with the decryption key being part of the link and never being stored.
  • The source code is open-source, which enhances the tool's transparency.
  • The servers are exclusively located in Switzerland and managed by Infomaniak.

Use kPaste to share sensitive data

To do this:

  1. Go to kpaste.infomaniak.com.
  2. Write your message in the designated field (e.g., a password, a code, an ID).
  3. Choose the availability period for the message (from 5 minutes to 1 month).
  4. Enable the “delete after first read” option if you want the message to disappear automatically after it is opened.
  5. (Optional) Protect the message with a password, which should be transmitted separately (or agreed upon in advance, for example, verbally).
  6. Click on “Generate sharing link”.
  7. Copy the generated link and send it to the recipient via a secure channel (SMS, encrypted messaging, etc.).
  8. As soon as the recipient opens the link, the message becomes accessible – and, if the option is enabled, it is deleted immediately after being read.

Example

You want to send a Wi-Fi password to a friend without risking it being visible for too long:

  1. Open kpaste.infomaniak.com.
  2. Type: WiFiPassword1234 in the field.
  3. Select a short duration, for example 10 minutes.
  4. Check “delete after first read”.
  5. (Optional) Add a password: AMIsecure.
  6. Click on “Generate link”.
  7. You will obtain a link of the following type: https://kpaste.infomaniak.com/?<token>#<key>, for example: https://kpaste.infomaniak.com/6bE4DzplVoghTQgoLaVH6NXfCi12D3bm#8kRmx51rf7msVzmNg7uPu4peJPboVhxuRvJee7EekLg6
  8. Send this link to your friend via SMS, and communicate the password to them separately if there is one.
  9. As soon as they click, they will see the password, and the message will be destroyed immediately after being read.

Result: your password is accessible only once, for just 10 minutes, and Infomaniak has no way to view it.

Therefore, the kPaste link example above will obviously be invalid by the time you open it.

Is kPaste really free?

Yes. Infomaniak funds its operations with its paid services. If you would like to help promote a web that respects users' privacy, tell your contacts about Infomaniak's free services.
