Generate a certificate (CSR) for all sub-domains (Wildcard)
This guide explains how to generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for a domain name and all its subdomains with a Web Hosting. This allows encrypting the connection to your domain and all its subdomains with SSL.
Please note that this procedure is also valid for Let's Encrypt certificates.
Setting up a Wildcard Certificate
Add an alias domain with an asterisk:
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser such as Brave or Firefox
- Click on the icon in the top right corner of the interface (or navigate through the left side menu, for example)
- Choose Website (in the Web & Domain universe)
- Click on the name of the relevant object in the displayed table
- Click on the blue Add button (in the Domains section)
- In the Domain alias to add (one per line) field, enter *.domain.xyz (the asterisk is essential, followed by a period, and then the domain name of the website, in this example domain.xyz)
- Click Save
When generating a certificate signing request (CSR)...
... it will now be possible to select *.domain.xyz
