Connect an Infomaniak Mail Service to Shopify
This guide explains how to link your Shopify site to the Mail Service managed by Infomaniak.
If your domain name is managed by Infomaniak, you can configure it so that only web traffic points to Shopify (refer to this other guide on the subject).
⚠️ Important
It is strongly discouraged to use Shopify as a domain name manager if you wish to use the Infomaniak Mail Service.
- Shopify imposes a technical limit of 255 characters on DNS records. This prevents the correct addition of the Infomaniak DKIM, which is essential to guarantee the deliverability and security of your emails.
- Shopify does not allow the modification of name servers (NS). Therefore, you cannot delegate DNS zone management to Infomaniak, which blocks the complete and compliant setup of your email service.
- In concrete terms, this means you risk problems sending or receiving emails, as well as a degradation of your domain's reputation (emails marked as spam, unauthenticated, etc.).
For all these reasons, we do not recommend using a Shopify domain with the Infomaniak mail service.
The best solution is to transfer your domain name to Infomaniak. You will thus benefit from complete and optimized DNS management, perfectly compatible with Infomaniak's messaging services.
If needed, call the technical support of the provider in question so they can help you set up the information specified below; Infomaniak will not be able to assist you further:
- Paste the Infomaniak MX:
- So that the messaging can work and the mail traffic is properly directed, the Infomaniak MX must be in your Shopify account:

- Validate the changes.
- Any DNS addition/modification can take up to 48 hours to propagate.
- Paste the Infomaniak SPF using a TXT:
- The SPF is a verification method that ensures an email is sent by the sender it claims to be, helping to combat spam and fraudulent emails.
- It is imperative, on your Shopify interface, to add the Infomaniak SPF
v=spf1 include:spf.infomaniak.ch -all. - To do this, follow the detailed steps in this other guide.
- Any DNS addition/modification can take up to 48 hours to propagate.
- Also check the presence of a DKIM if sending issues persist.
- Unfortunately, it seems that Shopify does not update according to current standards regarding DKIM entries, preventing you from configuring the entry provided by Infomaniak. According to these messages, Shopify's customer service has been aware of this issue for several months. If your domain name or its DNS zone is with them, it is recommended to transfer it to Infomaniak as indicated above.
