Understanding Radio Streaming Audience Metrics
If you notice an explosion in the number of connections, it might be a sign that listeners have had more issues in recent months and had to connect multiple times; note the number of unique IP connections, it gives a good indication of the origin of the problem if they are stable.
Problems can, for example, originate from Icecast servers but also from an upstream transmission issue (signal interruption sent by the radio, due to an encoding server problem or on the Internet lines) or even from downstream issues on the listeners' side (insufficient bandwidth, line saturation, Internet outage). It is impossible to investigate what may have happened several months ago.
Results between NetMetrix (WEMF) (or another audience analyzer) and your statistics can vary; NetMetrix has a different calculation method than the one used by Infomaniak, apparently based on the Player's events themselves. The notion of unique then naturally takes on another dimension.
The statistics in general are very particular. You can use 3 stats applications and you will get 3 different results.
