Restore email account (recover deleted emails)
This guide explains how to recover emails contained in a mailbox for free in the state of one of the last 6 or 7 days (we keep 7 backups, that is to say 7 "snapshots" of the box) .
Please note that the backup restore does not include the calendar or the address book.
How the restoration works
Only messages that no longer exist when you request restoration will be returned to their original location. All messages received within these 7 days of backups will be kept.
Certain settings linked to your email address will also be restored if they have changed in the meantime, in particular the " responder " part and the " redirection " part.
Warning : If you are used to recovering your mailbox with the POP/POP3 protocol, you will not be able to restore everything since the backup is done once a day; it only keeps the messages that were there at the time of the backup, but not those that have already been retrieved or the sent messages folder. It is therefore necessary in the future to prefer the IMAP protocol in your messaging software.
Prerequisites for access to backups
- Have administrator rights or legal representative on the account where the email address is located
- Make sure the deletion took place less than 7 days ago
Restore from Service Mail
- connect to your Infomaniak space (manager.infomaniak.com)
- go to Mail
Service
- click on the Mail Service/domain name concerned
- select the address concerned from the list of email addresses
- click the Actions button on the address at the top right, then select Restore Emails
- choose a Restore date (only over the last 7 days), then click on Restore emails
- once the restoration is complete, an informational email will be sent to you
Special case: if you wish to restore emails from a deleted address, it will be necessary to first recreate it with its exact name.
Restore from kMail
- open kMail ( mail.infomaniak.com ) Webmail Infomaniak
- from the left side menu click on Advanced actions then select Restore
- choose a Restore date (only over the last 7 days), then click on Restore emails
- once the restoration is complete, an informational email will be sent to you
If you don't have access...
- Check that you have valid access to kMail in which the email address is attached
- Do you have permission to manage this setting? If you had been invited to kMail in order to manage your address, it is possible that the Mail Service manager withdrew this right from you during the invitation (learn more (click here)
