This guide explains how to transfer your domain name from another provider to Infomaniak. You remain the owner of your domain name and manage it easily and cost-effectively.
Prerequisites
- Check that the domain name is transferable according to certain criteria:
- domain created or already transferred for at least 60 days
- valid email addresses (owner's contact details, admin/tech contacts)
- unlocked domain
- Securely note the different records (A / MX / TXT, etc.) contained in your domain if you will keep other services after the transfer than those of Infomaniak.
- This involves transferring a domain name that you own with a provider other than Infomaniak, so that the future management of this domain is handled by Infomaniak.
- This is not an internal transfer from one holder to another and the code to obtain is not a code for an internal transfer with your current provider.
- Instead, obtain the authorization code.
- The terms "
EPP", "AuthCode", "AuthInfo", "transfer code" and "authorization code" all refer to alphanumeric sequences specific to the domain whose main purpose is to verify the owner's authorization before a transfer between Registrars.
- Here are some specific guides to help you if your current Registrar is:
Transfer the domain to Infomaniak
Once the prerequisites above have been validated:
- Order the domain name to be transferred from Infomaniak.
- Enter the authorization code (see prerequisites above) when prompted during the order process.
- Review the DNS chapter below and, if necessary:
- Run a DNS diagnostic to verify the Domain <-> Infomaniak Services link.
- Run a Mail diagnostic (SPF, DKIM...) to avoid any sending or receiving issues.
Batch transfer of multiple domains
Once the prerequisites above have been validated:
- Order the domain names in one go via this Infomaniak transfer assistant.
- Specify the domain names and authorization codes or import a CSV file (format
.csvor.xlsx) with the list of domains and their authorization codes (in 2 columns and up to 300 rows).
Transfer duration, administrative delays
The time it takes to transfer a domain name is influenced by two factors:
- The conditions of the registry of the extension; for
.FR, Afnic sets a transfer period of up to 8 days; refer to the specifics of the extensions that concern you from this page (under Frequently Asked Questions by first clicking on the extension concerned). - The conditions of the Registrar you wish to leave; the latter has the possibility to object to the transfer during the transfer period defined by the registry; it can also automatically accept the transfer and speed it up.
Note that a DNS update (see below) can take up to 24 hours.
DNS configuration (before, during, after)
- Before the transfer, your domain name is linked to various services (Mail, Web...) through its DNS.
- While the transfer is in progress, you will no longer be able to modify the DNS configuration until the transfer is complete.
- As it can sometimes be difficult to know when this occurs, you can decide in advance what DNS configuration to apply (also possible during batch transfer):

For example:
- Your domain name
domain.xyzhas the DNSns1.monregistrar.comandns2.monregistrar.comand you will only be working with Infomaniak for everything related to email, web hosting, etc…- …then you don't need to do anything except choose our DNS when prompted during the transfer (same if it already has DNS such as ns11.infomaniak.com and ns12.infomaniak.com).
- …then you don't need to do anything except choose our DNS when prompted during the transfer (same if it already has DNS such as ns11.infomaniak.com and ns12.infomaniak.com).
- Your domain name
domain.xyzcurrently has the DNSns1.monregistrar.comandns2.monregistrar.comand you are only moving the domain name while continuing to work with different services other than Infomaniak…- …then carefully note the information contained in your current DNS zone (A records, CNAME, etc.) because Infomaniak cannot guarantee that your current DNS zone will persist where it is currently located (check with your current registrar) and choose not to use Infomaniak DNS.
- …then carefully note the information contained in your current DNS zone (A records, CNAME, etc.) because Infomaniak cannot guarantee that your current DNS zone will persist where it is currently located (check with your current registrar) and choose not to use Infomaniak DNS.
- And if you don't know which DNS your domain name is currently using…
- …query it via https://infomaniak.com/whois or another WHOIS service.
- …query it via https://infomaniak.com/whois or another WHOIS service.
- If your domain name
domain.xyzalready has DNS such asns11.infomaniak.comandns12.infomaniak.combefore transfer…- …then you don't need to do anything except choose our DNS when prompted during the transfer.
Do you want to transfer services such as your websites or email addresses? Refer to this other guide.
If you are stuck at a specific step, do not hesitate to contact Infomaniak support to get the help you need to continue the process.

The BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) standard, brand indicators for message identification) allows companies to incorporate their logo into the emails they send.
Preamble
- Infomaniak applications (and other companies around the globe - read the in case of problem chapter below) are compatible with BIMI and will display the logos next to the received emails.
- Infomaniak Mail Services allow you to configure your email with your logo; the benefits are numerous:
- increased trust: recipients can visually identify your emails, thus reducing the risk of phishing.
- brand reinforcement: a well-visible logo in inboxes reinforces brand awareness.
- better deliverability: emails compliant with DMARC have a better chance of reaching the main inbox.
1. Create a logo
Create a logo in SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format. This format is required as it ensures optimal quality regardless of the device or display size.
To be imported on the Infomaniak interface (read below) it must not exceed 10 Mo, but it can also be hosted on a publicly accessible secure server and you will simply need to indicate its URL for the BIMI DNS registration.
2. Obtain the VMC certificate
A verified logo certification (VMC) is required; it certifies that you are the legitimate owner of the logo. You can obtain this certification from recognized certification authorities such as DigiCert and Entrust.
When your VMC certificate is issued, you receive a PEM file containing the entity certificate. This PEM file includes your logo in SVG format as well as the VMC.
3. Add the logo to the Mail Service
Prerequisites
- All the Global Security indicators of your Mail Service must be green (SPF + DKIM + DMARC)!
To access the Mail Service and set the logo of your company:
- Click here to access the management of your Mail Service on the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
- Click directly on the name assigned to the Mail Service concerned.
- Click on Global Security in the left sidebar menu.
- Click on the Create button (in the BIMI section):

- Fill in the requested information from the documents received (see chapter 2 above) and do not forget to save.
In case of a problem
- If the Create button in the BIMI box remains gray, make sure to check the informative messages: DMARC may exist but not be at the required rejection percentage, so adjust the parameters according to the indications.
- When there are multiple domains linked to the Mail Service, you must ensure that you have a certificate on each linked domain if you want BIMI on them.
- Note that Apple Mail supports BIMI, unlike Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird and the Mail app from Samsung which have not yet fully adopted it.
Disable BIMI
To disable BIMI, simply go to the domain name management page linked to the Mail Service and delete the corresponding TXT record.

This guide details the different statuses that a domain name can have.
Common statuses
"Active" or "OK"
The domain name is declared in the DNS, the domain name is active and unlocked. All administrative and/or technical operations are possible.
"Registrar-Lock / Registry-Lock" or "clientTransferProhibited"
The domain name is declared in the DNS. The domain name is active and locked to protect it, especially against unauthorized transfer requests.
Statuses that require an operation or observation
"Registrar-Hold / Registry-Hold"
This status is set when the domain has expired (not renewed). The only possible operation is then renewal. Administrative and/or technical operations are not possible.
"RedemptionPeriod"
This status occurs if the domain has not been renewed. Refer to this other guide if you are looking for information on this subject.
"PendingRestore"
This status appears during a restoration request. The registrar has 7 days to communicate all necessary information to the registry for its restoration.
"PendingDelete"
This status follows the status RedemptionPeriod after 30 days if no restoration request has been made. The name will be deleted during a 15-day period before becoming public.
In the case of a .fr domain extension
"Active" (Active)

This guide explains how to modify the coordinates associated with a domain name, that is, the “WHOIS” coordinates of the owner / holder / manager.
Preamble
- The particularity of domain names is that they all have an owner whose coordinates are specific to the domain itself, independent of the Infomaniak account that manages the product.
- These coordinates, nicknamed WHOIS, indicate details such as first name, last name, postal address, email address, etc. and can be consulted online thanks to WHOIS services such as whois.infomaniak.com or whois.nic.swiss.
- Additional private coordinates often exist outside the public WHOIS and are never visible and/or communicated by Infomaniak without prior authentication!
- These coordinates will always prevail in the event of a dispute regarding the ownership of a domain name, it is therefore important to keep this information up to date even if you activate Domain Privacy to mask information.
Accessing the different types of contacts related to domain names
To access these domain manager coordinates:
- Click here to access the management of your product on the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
- Click directly on the name assigned to the product concerned:

- Click on WHOIS Information in the left sidebar:

Owner Contact

- Click on the Change Owner button to create a new contact card, or choose one previously used on one of the other domain names of the Organization, with the need to obtain the agreement of both parties before application.
- Click on the Modify button to edit the language (of certain shipments) as well as postal and telephone coordinates (an email is sent to the email address mentioned for a request to confirm the changes).
More details below in this guide.

- Click on the Modify button to edit the language (of certain shipments) as well as postal and telephone coordinates (an email is sent to the email address mentioned for a request to confirm the changes).
- Click on Other Contact to create a new contact card, or choose one previously used on one of the other domain names of the Organization, with the need to obtain the agreement of both parties before application.
More details below in this guide.
Modify WHOIS coordinates
Without creating a new contact card, you can modify:
- the postal address (street, zip code, country, etc.)
- the phone number
- the language (of certain shipments)
By creating a new contact card, you will therefore be able to specify:
- Type of contact (Company, Individual, Association, other)
- First name / Last name
- the email address
- the postal address (street, zip code, country, etc.)
- the phone number
- the language (of certain shipments)
Any modification of WHOIS coordinates will have to be validated by the current contact. The latter will receive an e-mail with a validation link valid for two days to validate the changes:
The e-mail also indicates the other domain names concerned by the operation (and which types of contacts are concerned by the change).
While waiting for validation, a message is displayed on the domain management page:
The change will not be made if all actions are not fully completed and before the deadline expires!
Find out more
Depending on the extension of the domain concerned, these operations may involve fees.
You can also do this on multiple domains at once: a contact card can be linked to several domains; modifying a card will therefore automatically apply to all domains with the same WHOIS contact.
Also refer to the guides concerning specific extensions such as the .es or the .se …

This guide details domain name monetization, generally done through domain parking while keeping the reseller's details hidden.
Domain parking
Domain parking is a technique that involves registering a domain name without using it immediately for a website.
Instead, the domain name is "parked" and usually displays a parking page with ads generated by an affiliate network.
The owner of the "parked" domain name can then earn money through these ads as a passive income source.
Infomaniak allows this practice provided that online advertising and trademark laws are respected.
And if you are the visitor?
Be vigilant: some domain parking pages may look similar to legitimate websites, which can cause confusion for users trying to access a specific website, and others may be infected with malware, which can be dangerous for users' cybersecurity.

This guide explains the messages you may receive mentioning ERRP (Expiration Reminder Renewal Policy) or domain expiration.
Preamble
- These messages are related to notifications and rules for managing domain names on the Internet.
- Their purpose is to inform you of renewal deadlines to avoid any interruption of your online services, such as your website or email addresses.
ERRP (Expiration Reminder Renewal Policy)
The ERRP is a policy established by the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). It requires registrars (companies that register and manage domain names, such as Infomaniak or others) to inform domain holders when their domains are approaching expiration. The goal is to allow owners to renew their domain on time and avoid any service disruption.
Operating principles
- Renewal reminders: the registrar must send several notifications before and after the expiration date. Generally:
- 30 days before expiration,
- 7 days before expiration,
- 1 day after expiration.
- Content of messages: each email must specify the domain concerned, the expiration date, and clear instructions for proceeding with the renewal.
- Sending address: reminders are sent to the email address registered with the domain. It is therefore important to keep this address up to date in your contact information.
Domain name expiration
When a domain is not renewed before its expiration date, it goes through several stages before being permanently deleted. Here is what usually happens:
- Grace period: after expiration, the holder still has a 30 to 45 day period to renew the domain without additional fees. During this period, the website or related services may be temporarily deactivated.
- Redemption period (Redemption Grace Period): if the domain is not renewed during the grace period, it enters a redemption phase. The holder can still recover the domain, but additional fees are applied. This period usually lasts about 30 days.
- Domain deletion: if no action is taken after the redemption period, the domain is deleted from the registry and becomes available for new registration.
Emails mentioning ERRP and domain expiration
Emails that mention ERRP or domain expiration follow ICANN guidelines. They are used to inform holders of the necessary actions to keep their domains active.
- Initial alert: a first email is sent approximately 30 days before expiration. It informs the holder that the domain is approaching its deadline and includes instructions for performing the renewal.
- Urgent reminder: a second email is sent 7 days before the expiration date, reminding the importance of renewing the domain to avoid any service interruption.
- Post-expiration notification: a final email is sent just after expiration, specifying that the domain can still be renewed during the grace period.
These notifications are essential to ensure that owners retain control of their domains and that their websites or associated services remain available without interruption.

- Nome do host: o URL configurado no Manager durante a adição do Dynamic DNS
- Nome de usuário: o identificador definido no Manager durante a adição do Dynamic DNS
- Senha: a senha definida no Manager durante a adição do Dynamic DNS

This guide explains how to order a DNS zone from Infomaniak.
Preamble
- Having the DNS zone with Infomaniak is useful if your domain name is registered elsewhere (third-party provider/registrar) and you want to easily link this domain with Infomaniak products.
- Indeed, it is not enough to own a site
domain.xyzwith Infomaniak and to indicate the 2 Infomaniak DNS addresses with the domain name registrar (if it is not Infomaniak) for the site to display when you typedomain.xyzin a browser. - You must add a DNS zone in the same place as the hosting to make the site work easily.
- This will also be particularly useful if the service provider managing your domain name does not offer DNS zone management.
Order a DNS zone
To do this:
- Click here to access the Infomaniak domain Shop.
- Start a search with the name of the domain registered elsewhere.
- Click on the action menu ⋮ located to the right of the result obtained.
- Select Order a DNS zone:

- Complete the purchase.
- Once added to your Manager, the zone can be edited.

This guide explains how to link a domain name managed by Infomaniak to a Google Sites offer.
Introduction
- A website created on Google cannot be exported to be hosted on third-party servers, such as Infomaniak's servers.
- It is therefore recommended to create the website directly with Infomaniak using Site Creator or WordPress.
Associate Google Sites with the Infomaniak domain name
To configure your domain in Google Sites:
- Create or prepare your site on Google Sites.
- In the Google Sites settings, go to the "Use a custom domain" option.
- Add your custom domain.
Google will then ask you to verify your domain via DNS records (delete any old A and CNAME records associated with it if necessary, then add the new ones):
A Records
To achieve the result requested by Google, for example, 4 different IP addresses…
- Host:
@points to:216.239.32.21 - Host:
@points to:216.239.34.21 - Host:
@points to:216.239.36.21 - Host:
@points to:216.239.38.21
… create the "A" type records with these IP addresses as the target:
- Click here to access the management of your domain in the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
- Click directly on the name assigned to the domain in question.
- Click on DNS Zone in the left-hand menu.
- Click on the blue Add entry button:

- Choose the A record type.
- Click on Next:

- Fill in the various fields according to your information.
- Save the changes:

- Repeat from step 4 if you have multiple records to add.
CNAME record
In order to achieve the result requested by Google, create a CNAME record with these values:
- Host:
www - Points to:
ghs.googlehosted.com
To do this:
- Click here to access the management of your domain in the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
- Click directly on the name assigned to the domain in question.
- Click on DNS Zone in the left-hand menu.
- Click on the blue Add entry button:

- Choose the CNAME record type.
- Click on Next:

- Fill in the various fields with your information.
- Save the changes you made:

Verify your domain (Google Site Verification)
After configuring the DNS records, return to Google Sites to complete the verification. This may take up to 24 hours due to DNS propagation.
Final validation
Once the changes have propagated, your site should work with the custom domain. If you encounter any problems, check the DNS records or contact Google.

This guide explains how to replace the main domain name associated with a Mail Service in case you want to modify the spelling of everything that comes after the at sign @ of your email address (= the domain name). If your Mail Service is part of a my kSuite, then you will need to act on the my kSuite domain directly.
Preamble
- You can also follow this procedure if the goal is to have completely new email addresses while keeping the history of your emails in Mail (since the email address will continue to exist, for example info@first-domain.xyz will become info@new-domain.xyz without modifying its content).
- Indeed, it is not possible to simply modify the spelling of the domain name concerned; it is therefore necessary to replace the current domain name associated with your email addresses with another domain name.
- To simply add an additional domain name, refer to this other guide.
- To rather modify the part of your email address that comes before the at sign
@, refer to this other guide. - Also note that you can rename your product (example) on the Infomaniak Manager but changing the name of a Mail Service has strictly no impact on its addresses; you need to act on the domain name.
If your Mail Service is part of a my kSuite, then you will need to act on the my kSuite domain directly.
Modify the domain name of the Mail Service
Prerequisites
- Own the new domain name (if necessary, create it in advance).
- Refer to the instructions of this other guide by applying the instructions corresponding to your situation (this is so that the domain name works when it is linked to your Mail Service).
Once the new domain name is ready to be used in place of the old one, you need to add it to the Mail Service and then perform a reversal:
- Click here to access the management of your product on the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
- Click directly on the name assigned to the product in question.
- Click on Domain Management in the left sidebar

- Click on Service-related domains in the left sidebar.
- Click the blue button Add a linked domain:

- You can:

- Search for an existing domain within the Organization you are connected to; this will link and automatically update the DNS zone of the added domain.
- Add a domain name or subdomain to manually specify the domain name or subdomain to use (ideal if the domain name is hosted elsewhere).
- Buy a new domain name (see prerequisites above).
a: The domain exists within the Organization
Before proceeding, make sure to dissociate the domain name if it had been set as an alias domain previously.
- Click on the proposed domain name.
- Click the blue button Link this domain:

- Click on the icon ⋮ to the right of the newly added domain name.
- Click on Set as primary domain (you must have dissociated the alias domain name from the primary domain name if there was a previous association):

- Confirm the reversal and then wait for the operation to complete.
- Click on the icon ⋮ to the right of the old domain name.
- Click on Unlink the domain:

- Confirm the detachment by verifying if you want to delete the associated DNS records during the detachment operation.
That's it, the Mail Service now responds to a new domain name.
b: The domain exists but elsewhere
- After clicking on Add a domain or subdomain, enter the domain name that will replace the current name.
- Enable DNS entry updates (if the domain name situation allows it, the DNS zone of the domain name will be automatically updated).
- If the point above is active, then enable the replacement of any existing entries.
- Enable reversal of the domain name (to avoid additional steps as in point "a" above).
- Click the blue button Link this domain:

- Wait for the operation to complete.
- Click on the icon ⋮ to the right of the old domain name.
- Click on Unlink the domain:

This guide is intended for users who wish to manage Glue records (or "glue records") at Infomaniak.
Preamble
- Glue records are crucial for linking a domain name to its associated name servers, by providing the IP addresses of these servers directly.
- For example, for the domain
domain.xyz, the glue records specify the name servers (ns1.domain.xyzandns2.domain.xyz) as well as their IP addresses (192.0.2.10and192.0.2.11).
- For example, for the domain
- This speeds up DNS resolution, allowing browsers and online services to find your site faster and more efficiently.
- Warning: adding an NS does not automatically add it to the DNS zone: it is necessary to manually update the DNS zone of your domain!
Create Glue records...
... via "A record"
This method involves creating an A record (address) for ns1.domain.xyz pointing to the IP of the NS. This will have the effect of registering the IP with the registry. You will then be able to add ns1.domain.xyz which will be recognized and redirected to the correct NS.
domain.xyz. 3600 IN NS ns1.domain.xyz.domain.xyz. 3600 IN NS ns2.domain.xyz.
ns1.domain.xyz. 3600 IN A 192.0.2.10ns2.domain.xyz. 3600 IN A 192.0.2.11
... via "Glue records" button
This way of doing things allows you to create, but also modify, existing Glue records:
- Click here to access the management of your product on the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
- Click directly on the name assigned to the product concerned.
- Click on DNS Servers in the left sidebar.
- Click on the Manage glue records button:

- Click on the Add a server button:

- Enter the name of the server to be added as well as its IP address.
- Click on the Validate button.
