Get write permission on /web (CHMOD 777)
You can apply a CHMOD 777, a specific right making a directory writable, to the /web directory for 1 hour.
777 root permissions
- connect with your FTP credentials to the FTP Manager file manager
- scroll up the directory tree (green arrow at top left)
- click on the properties button (gear) to the right of the /web directory
- activate the "Make folder writable for 1 hour" option on the properties page
- at the same point, you can stop the operation before the hour has elapsed
To find out more
For security reasons, we don't allow you to permanently apply a CHMOD 777 to the /web directory. Indeed, should one of your PHP scripts be attacked and a vulnerability discovered, any file under /web could be overwritten.
Assigning CHMOD 777 permissions to a directory or file will not allow users to do what they want on the site or transfer files freely. It represents a danger if someone manages to gain access to the Apache/PHP machine, as he could then carry out hacking operations on the server (he would then have to find a loophole to access the server's commands, hence the importance, as everywhere else, of keeping your scripts up to date).
