Manage publication and draft in Site Creator
This guide explains how not to publish changes directly to a Site Creator page.
Draft Mode
The draft mode allows you not to publish the following changes:
- adding a new content block via the Content menu
- visual or textual modifications of a content block
- deleting a content block
The draft mode does not apply to:
- global design changes via the Design menu (colors, fonts, …)
- content changes related to applications (e.g., questions/answers, e-commerce, …)
- global settings changes via the Settings menu (Pages, languages, …)
- sub-pages of the page you are unpublishing
Save Without Publishing
You can switch a page to draft mode to make text or other changes to the content of a page that will not be visible live, until you decide to put the site back into direct publishing mode:
- open the Manager (manager.infomaniak.com)
- go to Web Hosting
- if necessary, click on the hosting/domain name concerned
- in the left sidebar, click on Site Creator
- click on Customize my site
Once in Site Creator:
- in the left sidebar, click on the
button at the bottom to expand the publishing and preview options:
- click on Live to switch to Unpublished mode:
- now, the yellow mode displayed at the bottom indicates that all your changes (on this page only) will not be visible live (unlike the Live mode) but will be saved in a draft even if you leave the page or the editor:
Publish Changes or Delete Draft
- when Unpublished mode is active, click on the yellow Unpublished mode button to display a settings panel:
- the settings panel opens so you can publish your changes:
- or delete the current draft and return to the initial state of the page
Example
With the Live mode (visible at the bottom of the screen), a modification is immediately visible to page visitors:
With the Unpublished / draft mode (identifiable by a yellow symbol at the bottom of pages switched to this mode), your changes are not visible live:
Leaving the page to work on another page, the mode returns to the default mode, which is Live, because the page is different, and the mode only applies to the selected pages:
Returning to the draft page, a symbol at the bottom of the page still indicates that draft mode is active:
Click on it to choose whether to publish or delete the changes and return the page to its previous state in draft mode:
