Resolve a 0x800 error on Outlook or other

Preamble

  • To find out what an error number (0x800CCCXX for example) corresponds to, refer to Microsoft's knowledge base or a virtual assistant.

To attempt to resolve the following error:

Outlook cannot synchronize subscribed folders for email@domain.xyz. Error: An unexpected internal error occurred. It is suggested that you restart your client. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)
  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Click on File then on Options.
  3. In the left menu, click on Advanced Options.
  4. Click on the Send/Receive... button
  5. Click on Modify.
  6. Check the box Use the custom behavior below.
  7. Check the folders to synchronize.
  8. Check the box Download entire items (including attachments) for subscription folders.
  9. Validate the changes and close the options window.
