This guide explains how to migrate an existing Infomaniak web hosting account to a Managed Cloud Server. By following this procedure, you will keep the content you currently have on your hosting while benefiting from the latest updates.

Prerequisites

• You must own or order a Managed Cloud Server in the same account as your hosting.
• You must have at least one free hosting slot on your Managed Cloud Server (5 hosting slots are included by default); if necessary, add an additional hosting slot.

Start the migration process

To do this:

1. Start the migration process.
2. Check the box Migrate my hosting to one of my servers.
3. Select the destination server from the drop-down menu.
4. Check the box Retrieve files and databases.
5. Click the Next button.

At this stage, your website is still running on the old server, and you have 30 days to test and adapt your site on the new server. To avoid losing data, it is recommended that you do not update your site on both the old and new servers during the migration phase.

Test your site on the new server

To do this:

1. Click here to access the management of your product in the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
2. Click directly on the name assigned to the product you migrated.
3. Click on the button 2 ‍Test my sites‍‍ at the top of the page to display your site as it will appear when it is put into production on the new server:
   ‍
   1. During your tests, check on each of the pages tested that the URL displayed in your browser's address bar corresponds to the preview address; otherwise, check that your site does not have redirects that prevent its preview.
   2. If the site displays correctly, proceed directly to the verification step below; otherwise, proceed to the step just below.

Adapt the site for the new infrastructure

With a content management system (CMS) such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, or another web application (ownCloud, phpBB, etc.) using a database, adapt the following information in the appropriate configuration file so that the site works:

• the database name
• the database server
• the username that accesses the database
• the password for the username that accesses the database

• These changes must be made on the new server via a new FTP account (help).

Checks to Perform Before Going Live

Retrieve the Latest Changes on the New Server

If the content of the old site was modified by a user during the transition period, retrieve these changes on the new server:

1. Click here to access the management of your product on the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
2. Click directly on the name assigned to the product you migrated.
3. Click on the button 1 Copy my data:
   ‍
4. Choose the items to import according to your needs (if you re-import the /web folder while activating the overwrite existing files parameter, you will also overwrite your modified configuration files; therefore, make a backup copy before proceeding so that you can easily restore them after the copy).
5. Click on the blue button Start the copy.

Check Scheduled Tasks (Cron Jobs)

If there are scheduled tasks (cron jobs), it is necessary to test and reactivate them:

1. Click here to access the management of your product on the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
2. Click directly on the name assigned to the product in question.
3. Click on Web in the left-hand menu.
4. Click on Task Scheduler in the left-hand menu.
5. Test your site again by following the procedure described above in this guide.

Go Live

To permanently switch traffic to the new server (you will then no longer have access to the old site and your databases stored on the old server):

1. Click here to access the management of your product in the Infomaniak Manager (need help?).
2. Click directly on the name assigned to the product you migrated.
3. Click the 3 ‍Go Live‍ button.
   ‍‍

If your domain name is not managed by Infomaniak or if it is in a different Organization than the site in question:

• Modify the pointing (A record) to specify the new IP address of your site.
