You can also bring other types of data to Infomaniak servers:
- Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. content: read this guide
- Data on Synology or QNAP NAS: read this guide
Why join Infomaniak?
By consolidating your domain names, websites, and email addresses with Infomaniak, you simplify the management of your invoices and services. Additionally, the linking of your domains will be automatically done with your website and email address. You won't need to manually configure the DNS of your domains with another registrar.
Learn more about Infomaniak
This guide explains how to transfer a domain name that you own with another provider to Infomaniak.
Prerequisites
- Ensure that the domain is transferable according to certain criteria:
- Domain created or already transferred for at least 60 days
- Valid email addresses (owner's contact information, administrative / technical contacts)
- Domain is unlocked
- Safely note the different records (A / MX / TXT, etc.) contained in your domain if you will retain other services than those of Infomaniak after the transfer
- Understand that a DNS update (read below) can take up to 24 hours
- Obtain the authorization code; here are some specific guides to help you if your current Registrar is:
Special cases:
The terms EPP code, authcode, transfer code, and authorization code all refer to alphanumeric sequences specific to the domain whose main purpose is to verify the owner's authorization before transferring between registrars.
Transfer the domain to Infomaniak
Once the above prerequisites are met:
- Order the domain name to transfer with Infomaniak
- Enter the authorization code (read the prerequisites) when prompted during the order process
Batch Transfer
Once the above prerequisites are met:
- Order the domain names all at once via this Infomaniak transfer wizard
- Specify the domain names and the authorization codes or import a CSV file with the list of domains and their authorization codes (in 2 columns)
Transfer Duration, Administrative Delays
The duration of a domain name transfer is influenced by two factors:
- The conditions of the registry of the extension; for .FR, Afnic defines a transfer period of 8 days; refer to the specificities of the extensions that concern you from this page (under Frequently Asked Questions by clicking first on the relevant extension)
- The conditions of the Registrar you wish to leave (e.g., Hostinger); the latter has the possibility to oppose the transfer during the transfer period defined by the registry; it can also automatically accept the transfer and accelerate it
DNS Configuration (Before, During, After)
Before the transfer, your domain name is linked to different services (Mail, Web...) through its DNS.
During the transfer process, you will not be able to intervene on the DNS configuration until the transfer is completed.
After the transfer, as it is sometimes difficult to know when this happens, you can decide in advance what DNS configuration to apply (also possible during batch transfer):
For example:
- Your domain name domain.xyz has before transfer the DNS ns1.myregistrar.com and ns2.myregistrar.com AND you will only work with Infomaniak for everything related to email, web hosting, etc. THEN you don't need to do anything except choose our DNS when prompted during the transfer (same if it already has DNS like ns11.infomaniak.com and ns12.infomaniak.com)
- Your domain name domain.xyz currently has the DNS ns1.myregistrar.com and ns2.myregistrar.com AND you are only moving the domain name while continuing to work with different services other than Infomaniak THEN carefully note the information contained in your current DNS zone (A records, CNAME, etc.) as we cannot guarantee that your current DNS zone will persist where it is currently (check with your current registrar) and choose not to use Infomaniak DNS
- and if you don't know which DNS your domain name currently uses, query it via https://infomaniak.com/whois or another whois service
- if your domain name domain.xyz already has DNS like ns11.infomaniak.com and ns12.infomaniak.com before transfer THEN you don't need to do anything except choose our DNS when prompted during the transfer
This guide explains how to replace the main domain name associated with a website hosted on Infomaniak, in case you want to change the name of your business or modify the spelling, for example.
Indeed, it is not possible to simply modify the spelling of the domain name; you need to own the new domain name and install it in place of the current one by proceeding with an inversion (read below).
Also note that you can rename your Web Hosting product in the Infomaniak Manager, but changing the name of a hosting has absolutely no impact on the site's URLs. You need to act on the domain name and, if necessary, adapt the site's content.
Prerequisites
- Own the desired new domain name (if necessary, you need to purchase it).
- If the desired modification is more of a "subdomain" to "main domain" type (example: dev.domain.xyz → domain.xyz), then read this guide (click here).
Add the new domain as an alias
When the new domain name is ready to be used in place of the old one:
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox.
- Add the new domain as an alias to your site.
This alias will replace the current main domain name after the inversion you are going to perform.
Invert alias and main domain
Once the alias domain has been added to your site:
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox.
- Click on the icon in the top right corner of the interface (or navigate through the left side menu, for example).
- Choose Hosting (Web & Domain universe).
- Click directly on the name of the relevant object in the displayed table.
- Click on the site in question (in the Sites section).
- Click on the action menu â‹® to the right of the alias that will become the main domain (in the Domains section).
- Choose Set as main domain.
- If necessary, delete the old domain name and its variants that have become alias domains.
If you are using an SSL certificate, you will need to update it to include the added aliases.
If you are using the Dedicated IP option, you need to uninstall and reinstall it after the inversion you are going to perform.
Adapt the site's content
If your site corresponded to a specific domain name, errors may occur if you do not adapt its content to the new name. Read the guides for:
This guide explains how to redirect a domain name directly to another or how to automatically send visitors from your website to another page address (internal or external URL).
You will need to take action either on the domain name itself (it must be hosted by Infomaniak, and its DNS must also be those of Infomaniak), or on the code present in your pages (htaccess page, homepage, etc.) if you have a website.

Acting on the Domain Name
via Web Redirection Tool
The tool available in the Manager allows you to easily act on the domain name (or subdomain) to redirect it to the Internet address of your choice.
via DNS changes or A record
Change the DNS of the domain name or modify its A/AAAA records to direct web traffic to another provider.
Acting on the Code of the Pages
via HTML code to insert
Insert this line of code between the <head>
and </head>
tags of your homepage (usually named index.html):
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5;url=INSERT-HERE-NEW-URL">
Replace 5 with the desired waiting time in seconds (0 for an immediate effect).
Google search engine suggests using a server-side 301 redirect (see below). The W3C also advises against using it.
via PHP code to insert
If the site page has a .php extension, insert this function call at the top of the file:
header("refresh: 5; url=INSERT-HERE-NEW-PAGE-URL");
via .htaccess file
To redirect all traffic to your site (regardless of the called page) to another address, insert this in the .htaccess file at the root of your site:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ INSERT-HERE-NEW-URL/$1 [R=301]
To target the page that needs to be redirected:
Redirect permanent /old_page.html insert destination URL here
Redirectpermanent, Redirect permanent, and Redirect 301 are equivalent commands.
Here is another example of redirecting a subpart to the homepage (this directive works with "deep links" unlike a permanent redirect):
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule "old/path/url "/" [L]
This guide helps you resolve an email sending issue when your email is managed by Infomaniak but your website is with another provider (like Wix, for example), especially if you receive error emails mentioning SPF when writing to Gmail or similar addresses.
Check the Configuration
The tool Global Security (click here) informs you of any configuration inconsistencies in your Mail Service.
The DNS Diagnostic tool (click here) also detects possible inconsistencies in the DNS zone of your domain name but it only analyzes it when it is with Infomaniak (meaning when your domain name points to Infomaniak's DNS servers).

This guide explains how to transfer an Infomaniak product from one organization to another.
This allows you to move any product subscribed to Infomaniak to a different Infomaniak Manager interface than the one where the product is currently located. This is an internal transfer.
Furthermore, if your user has access to multiple organizations, it's very easy to send the product of your choice to one of them.
Generate a Transfer Link
To transfer a product:
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox on the organization that contains the product(s) to be transferred (the user must have administrative rights).
- Open this page in the Manager (or click on Product Transfer in the left sidebar).
- Click on the Transfer products button
- Check the product(s) to move.
- Read and accept the terms and conditions.
- Click the Transfer button.
The transfer has started. You can now choose to:
- Copy the transfer link.
- Send it to the email address of your choice.
- Complete the transfer by selecting one of the organizations your user is associated with, and the selected product will be transferred there.
Alternative Method
In the case of a one-time transfer, you can also go directly to the dashboard of the product in question and click on Manage (as shown in the image below). However, this menu is not available everywhere (e.g., in the case of Newsletters), so it's better to use the first method above, which also allows batch transfer.
For Jelastic Cloud, read this guide (click here).
Receiving the Product
Once a transfer has started:
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox on the organization that should receive the product(s) (the user must have administrative rights).
- Execute the link obtained in the first step above.
- If necessary, choose the destination organization from the dropdown menu.
- Read and accept the Terms and Conditions.
- Click the Receive Products button (if the button is not clickable, make sure you have selected the organization).
If needed, you can create a new organization to receive products.
You can always find an ongoing transfer from the left sidebar of the Infomaniak Manager:
With Domain Privacy, Infomaniak allows you to preserve the privacy of your personal information (name, email address, postal address, and phone number) and effectively protect yourself against SPAM.
What is the WHOIS Directory?
ICANN-accredited registrars are obligated to publish the contact details of a domain owner in the public WHOIS directory. This directory lists all registered domains and is primarily used for:
- Checking domain name availability.
- Checking trademark infringements.
- Contacting the domain owner in case of legal issues.
Domain Privacy Preserves Your Privacy and Protects You from SPAM
Some clients are concerned about the privacy of their personal data and do not want to publicly display their email address, phone number, and postal address in the WHOIS directory.
Domain Privacy addresses this need for privacy and allows you to conceal your actual contact information. With this protection, WHOIS searches for your domain will not reveal your personal details but instead show the information of our partner Domain Privacy Trustee SA.
- You are protected against SPAM: marketing companies and individuals cannot use your personal data.
- You retain full ownership of your domain.
- It is still possible to contact you through a secure form that protects your identity.
Activate Domain Privacy for an Existing Domain
Domain Privacy can be activated in a few seconds:
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox.
- Click on the icon in the top right corner of the interface (or navigate using the left-side menu, for example).
- Choose Domains (under the Web & Domain section).
- Click directly on the name of the relevant item in the table that appears.
- Enable Domain Privacy from the dashboard

DNS Fast Anycast replicates the DNS of your domain worldwide and accelerates access to your site by an average of 34%. The option can be activated with a single click and does not require any modification to your code.
What is DNS Fast Anycast
Thanks to DNS Fast Anycast, the DNS of your domain is replicated in over 20 points of presence worldwide. Wherever your visitors are located, they are redirected to the nearest DNS server, which speeds up access to your site by an average of 34% (DNS resolution). Furthermore, if one of your DNS servers were to become unavailable, the nearest server naturally takes over, allowing your visitors to continue accessing your site.
In summary, DNS Fast Anycast reduces latency and increases the availability of your websites without requiring any modifications to your code.
Prerequisites
- All you need is a domain name managed by Infomaniak. It is easy to transfer the management of your domain to Infomaniak if necessary.
- DNS Fast Anycast is compatible with all internet sites, regardless of your web host.
- The replication of your domain's DNS is automatic, and no modifications to your code are required.
Activate DNS Fast Anycast
To access DNS Fast Anycast:
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) using a web browser such as Brave or Firefox.
- Click on the icon in the top right of the interface (or navigate using the left side menu, for example).
- Select Domains (universe Web & Domain).
- Click directly on the name of the item in the table that appears.
- Enable DNS Fast Anycast from the dashboard.
This guide explains how to link your Wix plan (and other services, read below) to:
- a domain name managed by Infomaniak
- your Infomaniak Mail Service
1. Associate Wix with the domain at Infomaniak
Prerequisites
- get the 2 DNS provided by Wix (in the form of ns0.wixdns.net and ns1.wixdns.net, for example)
Then, to link a site with Wix to a domain at Infomaniak:
- log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox
- click on the icon at the top right of the interface (or navigate using the left side menu, for example)
- choose Domains (in the Web & Domain universe)
- click on the name of the relevant object in the displayed table
- click on Connect a service in the left side menu
- click on the blue Connect button on the WIX tile
- enter the 2 Wix DNS (read prerequisites above)
- click on Next
2. Associate Wix with Infomaniak Mail
By specifying the 2 Wix DNS to your domain as mentioned above, all web & mail traffic now goes to Wix. It is necessary to inform Wix that the mail is managed by Infomaniak by making 2 essential modifications:
Specify the Infomaniak MX
For the email to function properly and for mail traffic to be directed correctly, the Infomaniak MX must be specified in your Wix account. Fortunately, a dropdown menu allows you to choose Infomaniak as the mail provider without manually specifying our MX mta-gw.infomaniak.ch
.
Specify the Infomaniak SPF using a TXT
SPF is a verification method that ensures an email is actually sent by the sender it claims to be, helping to combat spam and fraudulent emails.
It is imperative, on your Wix interface, to add the Infomaniak SPF in the form of a TXT (do not use the "SPF" section). To do this, follow the detailed steps in this guide (click here). Then wait a few hours for the addition to propagate.
We also recommend checking the presence of a DKIM if sending issues persist.
Microsoft 365, Squarespace, Shopify Users
The setup wizard mentioned in point 5 above is also available in the same place to link Microsoft Office 365, Shopify, and Squarespace services with your domain registered with Infomaniak.
