Obtaining an SSL certificate and intermediate certificate
Install an SSL certificate and intermediary certificate from an official authority. We only provide the technical aspects of running your site with an SSL certificate. The certificate issued in your official name must be reserved through an approved authority, such as Thawte, Comodo, Verisign, StartSSL or Gandi.
Actions to be carried out
OLD CONTROL PANEL
Go to Administration -> SSL Configuration -> Generate Request
Generate a CSR
Send it to the provider, who will send back a CRT file, possibly with the provider's CA.
Import the signed certificate (including the intermediate certificate where present) in the same place as admin
The certificate is live.
NEW CONTROL PANEL
Go to your site settings
Click on SSL and Fixed IP on the left-hand side
Generate a CSR
Send this to your certificate provider, who will return a CRT, possibly along with the provider's CA
Import it, now signed (including the intermediary certificate if present) in the same place as admin
The certificate is now live
One certificate provider (TBS Internet) offers its own guide for the old Admin1 control panel.
You may also choose to use the free certificate that we install by default when setting up SSL. This will bear the same name as your web site but will not be an official certificate: data will be encrypted but the first attempt to display a page will cause an automatic warning pane to appear.
