Differences between Classic Web hosting, Starter hosting and Cloud Server
This guide explains the differences between our hosting packages and it will help you to choose the hosting solution which best suits your needs.
Starter: free web hosting
The Starter hosting is offered free with every domain name registered with Infomaniak. It allows you to create a basic website with html pages and offer 10 MB of disk space.
- Register or transfer a domain name with Infomaniak

Web and Classic: the complete web hosting
Web and Classic hostings are shared hostings, in other words your websites will be hosted on servers whose resources are shared with other clients. To guarantee the reliability of our shared services, our servers on average use only 40% of the CPU power and are equipped with latest-generation professional SSD disks.
The Web hosting offers 100 GB of SSD disk space and allows several websites to be managed with several domain names. This hosting package offers all the technologies usually used to create professional websites: PHP, MySQL, SSH and FTP access, free SSL certificates, easy installation of WordPress and up-to-date CMS, etc.
The Classic hosting package is a web hosting package with 25 professional email addresses. The Classic package is Infomaniak's flagship Web and Mail hosting solution. It is aimed at SMEs and demanding individuals who want to manage one or more websites while benefiting from professional email addresses.
Cloud Server: professional web hosting
With a Cloud Server, the resources allocated to you are not shared with other clients and you can customise the hardware and software configuration of your server to suit your needs. A Cloud Server also allows you to use components which are not available on shared hostings (node.js, mongoDB, MariaDB, etc.).
A managed Cloud Server allows your server to be managed easily from the same admin console as our Web and Classic hostings
An Unmanaged Cloud Server allows your server to be managed 100% autonomously with the Linux distribution of your choice (Debian, Ubuntu, openSUSE, ...). Solid technical skills are required to use an unmanaged Cloud Server.
