Migration: Keep the current content of your hosting on a Cloud Server
This guide explains how to migrate your hosting to Managed Cloud Server. By following this procedure, you will keep the content you currently have on your hosting while benefiting from the latest Infomaniak developments.

Prerequisites
- own or order a Managed Cloud Server in the same account as your hosting
- have at least one available hosting on your Cloud server (5 hostings are included by default); if necessary, add an additional hosting
Start the migration process
To do this:
- start the migration process
- check the box Migrate my hosting to one of my servers
- select the destination server from the dropdown menu
- check the box Retrieve files and databases
- click on the Next button
At this stage, your website still works on the old server and you have 30 days to test and adapt your site on the new server. In order not to lose data, it is recommended not to update your site on both the old and new servers during the migration phase.
Test your site on the new server
For this:
- log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Edge
- click on the icon in the top right corner of the interface (or navigate through the left side menu, for example)
- choose Hosting (universe Web & Domain)
- click on the name of the hosting you migrated
- at the top of the page, click on the Test my sites button to display your site as it will appear when it is put into production on the new server
- during your tests, check on each of the tested pages that the URL displayed in the address bar of your browser matches the preview address; if not, check that your site does not have redirects that prevent its preview
- if the site displays normally, proceed directly to the final verification step (further down in this guide) otherwise read the next chapter
Adapt the site for the new infrastructure
If you use a content management system (CMS) like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal or another web application (ownCloud, phpBB, etc.) using a database, you must adapt the following information in the appropriate configuration file for your site to work:
- the name of the database
- the database server
- the username accessing the database
- the password of the username accessing the database
Find this information on the Manager.
Important information
- these modifications must be made on the new server via a new FTP account
- to connect to the new server via FTP Manager do not use your domain name, as it still points to the old server; instead, use the address of your Web server
Checks to be done before going live
Retrieve the latest changes on the new server
If you have updated the content of your old site during the transition period, retrieve your changes on the new server:
- log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Edge
- click on the icon in the top right corner of the interface (or navigate through the left side menu, for example)
- choose Hosting (universe Web & Domain)
- click on the name of the hosting you migrated
- click on the Copy my data button
- choose the items to import according to your needs (if you reimport the /web folder by activating the overwrite existing files parameter, you will also overwrite your modified configuration files; so remember to make a backup copy before continuing to easily restore them after copying)
- click on the blue Start copying button
Verification of scheduled tasks (cronjobs)
If you had scheduled tasks (cronjobs), test and reactivate them:
- log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Edge
- click on the icon in the top right corner of the interface (or navigate through the left side menu, for example)
- choose Hosting (universe Web & Domain)
- click on the name of the hosting you migrated
- in the left side panel, click on Advanced tools then on Task scheduler
- test your site again following the procedure described earlier in this guide
Go live
To definitively switch traffic to the new server (you will then no longer have access to the old site and your databases stored on the old server):
- log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Edge
- click on the icon in the top right corner of the interface (or navigate through the left side menu, for example)
- choose Hosting (universe Web & Domain)
- click on the name of the hosting you migrated
- click on the Go live
If your domain name is not managed by Infomaniak or if it is in a different customer account than the site concerned:
modify the pointing (A records) to specify the new IP address of your site.
